Why repowering?
The next phase of growth for the solar industry is set to begin with existing installations. An increasing number of photovoltaic systems are reaching an age where technical, economic and regulatory factors make modernisation a sensible option.
New technologies are opening up further potential. For example, higher module efficiency allows for greater output from the same surface area. Battery storage systems can be integrated cost-effectively, and grid connection can be optimised during repowering. Furthermore, extending the system’s operational life and improving ESG performance offer further benefits.
However, repowering involves more than just replacing modules. Planning, design, dismantling, logistics, reuse, recycling and new construction with integrated storage must be professionally planned and coordinated.
