Glass recycling at Reiling: What types of glass do we recycle?
When it comes to glass recycling, it all depends on the type of glass: drinks bottles, window panes and windscreens differ in their composition and structure. This places different demands on the processing. What types of glass do we recycle at Reiling? These include both container glass and various types of flat glass, from which we recover valuable secondary raw materials for the glass industry.
Recycling of flat glass: We process the following types of glass
At Reiling, virtually all types of flat glass can be recycled. These are generated, for example, in glass production, the building trades, demolition projects and the automotive industry. Their varying compositions require appropriate processes to ensure high-quality glass recycling.
Float glass: Float glass forms the basis of many flat glass products. Production offcuts, scrap and end-of-life panes can be reused as raw materials through professional glass recycling.
Laminated safety glass (LSG): These panes consist of several layers of glass bonded together by interlayers. During glass recycling, the different materials must be separated from one another in order to recover the glass components.
Single-pane safety glass (ESG): ESG is thermally toughened glass. It is used, for example, in glass doors. At Reiling, we also process this type of glass and make it suitable for reuse as a secondary raw material.
Insulating glass: Insulating glass consists of two or more panes of glass with sealed air gaps between them. Mirror glass: End-of-life mirrors are also among the flat glass products that we process. Their coatings place special demands on the recycling process and must be taken into account during processing.
Automotive glass: This includes windscreens, side windows and rear windows.
We can also accept mixed fractions comprising different types of flat glass, known as ‘Isomix’.
Collecting materials as sort-pure as possible facilitates processing and lays an important foundation for high-quality glass recycling. The most suitable collection solution depends on the type of glass, the quantity involved and any possible residues or contaminants. Are you looking for a partner for your glass recycling? We can advise you on suitable collection and disposal solutions. Let us know the type and quantity of your glass, and together we will find the right way to return glass to the cycle as a valuable raw material.
