In future, glass with a recycled proportion of up to 30 percent from car windscreens that can no longer be repaired will be used for the windscreen of the Audi Q4 e-tron. This marks the successful transfer of the "GlassLoop" pilot project to series production.

Münster, 6 June 2023 - With the opening of Germany's first Reiling PV recycling site, we are preparing for the recycling of the expected future masses of discarded (EOL) PV modules. The focus of the new PV recycling competence centre in Münster is: collection, testing for reuse and recycling of silicon-based PV modules. The multi-million investment in the site with a new testing line and an innovative, specially developed recycling plant represents a milestone with regard to the recycling of PV modules on an industrial scale.

With effect from 01.05.2023, the family-run companies Schlüsselbauer (AT) and Reiling (DE) are merging their German activities in the foam glass sector. For this purpose, the joint company Veriso GmbH & Co. KG was founded. Both shareholders hold 50 % each in the new company and contribute their production sites. An exception is Schlüsselbauer's Austrian production site in Gaspoltshofen (AT), which will continue to remain under the sole management of Schlüsselbauer.

As part of our Rewindo partnership, we now also accept removed or damaged windows with PVC frames (with and without glass) at our German glass recycling locations.
We then separate the glass from the frames and recycle it so that it can be used again for the production of new flat glass. The PVC plastic goes to audited recycling partners within the Rewindo network for recycling.
Rewindo is an initiative of the German plastic profile manufacturers for removed windows, roller shutters and doors made of plastic. Like us, they want to conserve resources and protect the environment.

Gladbeck 03 March 2023 - Building on the joint pilot project with Audi on the recycling of automotive glass and the use of our glass granulate in new car windscreens, Audi is going one step further with the MaterialLoop cooperation project. The goal - to close material loops for recyclable materials such as steel, aluminium, plastic or glass within the automotive industry and to recover as many materials as possible in the best possible quality.

Together with the two other partner companies Saint-Gobain Glass and Saint-Gobain Sekurit of the car manufacturer Audi, we are taking on the challenge of establishing a closed material cycle for non-repairable car glass as part of a one-year pilot project and are thus doing pioneering work.

Together with the recycling specialist for PV modules, Reiling GmbH & Co. KG, researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute have successfully worked on a solution for silicon recycling.
