Reiling and Schlüsselbauer merge their German foam glass divisions

With effect from 01.05.2023, the family-run companies Schlüsselbauer (AT) and Reiling (DE) are merging their German activities in the foam glass sector. For this purpose, the joint company Veriso GmbH & Co. KG was founded. Both shareholders hold 50 % each in the new company and contribute their production sites. An exception is Schlüsselbauer's Austrian production site in Gaspoltshofen (AT), which will continue to remain under the sole management of Schlüsselbauer.

Veriso GmbH & Co. KG takes over the business activities of SCHLÜSSELBAUER Geomaterials GmbH and Veriso Schaumglas GmbH (Reiling) and thus has four foam glass furnaces at three production sites. It is thus one of the largest producers of foam glass gravel in Europe. The headquarters of the new company is located in Knittlingen/Baden-Württemberg.

Foam glass is an innovative and ecological building material made from recycled waste glass, which is often used as perimeter insulation to replace oil-based insulation. But foam glass is also used by clients, architects or construction companies when conventional building materials reach their limits due to challenging substrates.

One of Veriso's main tasks will be to make foam glass gravel better known, because the advantages of the product speak for themselves.

In addition to the production of different qualities of cellular glass gravel, Veriso is also involved in the distribution of expanded glass, which is used, for example, as insulating levelling fill under screed.

"By combining three production sites, technical know-how and raw material supply, we will be able to occupy a permanently good position in the highly competitive building materials market and market our ecological product well," says Veriso Managing Director Marc Uphoff. Flat and efficient structures characterise both houses and the new company is also organised in this way, following the example of the parent companies. "This way we are always close to the market and the customer," reports Schlüsselbauer managing director Jochen Mühlböck.

Schlüsselbauer is a leading international full-service provider in the field of special machine construction, planning and implementing highly automated solutions for their customers in the concrete industry worldwide. Under the names Geocell and Geomaterials, a division for foam glass and expanded glass products has been successfully established in recent years.

Reiling, a leading glass recycling company in Europe, based in Marienfeld (DE), had taken over the foam glass site in Husum (near Nienburg), as well as a sales office in Berlin, in 2021 and then merged them to form Veriso Schaumglas GmbH in 2022.

In personal discussions, both Ulrich Schlüsselbauer and Bernhard Reiling were convinced that the merger offered both companies the opportunity to benefit from the respective strengths of the partner company. The idea for the merger was born quickly and was implemented swiftly. Both companies see great opportunities for growth, as foam glass gravel meets the current spirit of the times like hardly any other product.
