At the end of November 2019, the topping-out ceremony of the new building (administration building, workshop and part of the production hall) was held on the premises of Reiling Kunststoff Recycling GmbH & Co. KG in Burgbernheim was celebrated.

The Reiling Group is investing a total of € 12-13 million in the new site and is thus expanding the "Plastics Recycling" business area with a third site in Middle Franconia.

The construction of the production hall is scheduled for completion in April 2020. The focus within the project is on sustainable construction. The building will be heated by its own combined heat and power unit (CHP) and a photovoltaic system with almost 590 kWp will ensure efficient energy conversion.

At the moment, the site is already being used as a transhipment point with storage space. This is primarily intended to optimise the logistics for the existing business.

In a second step, a PET processing plant will be built that can process up to 60,000 tonnes of bottles annually.  Furthermore, the new location will also be used as a logistics base for the recycling of solar panels of the Reiling Group. The company location will create about 40 jobs in the region.

Due to the new EU packaging directive, trade associations such as Plastics Recyclers Europe expect an additional volume of collected bottle waste of around 500,000 tonnes per year in Europe.

Reiling makes an important contribution here and ensures that these quantities can be reused and do not have to be incinerated. At the same time, the company celebrates this investment as an important milestone in strengthening sustainable plastics recycling in Europe.
