"From waste to value"
As part of the ‘Sustainable.business’ series of events organised by pro Wirtschaft GT GmbH, the economic development agency for the district of Gütersloh, we welcomed numerous specialists and executives from regional companies to our site in Marienfeld on 28 October.
Under the motto ‘From waste to value’, the day was dedicated to sustainable corporate management, circular economy and efficient waste management. The aim of the event was to show how companies can view waste not as a burden, but as a value driver for the economy, the environment and society.
In exciting specialist presentations, Holger Zander, an expert in waste management, and Benedikt Heitmann, Managing Director of Reiling Glas Recycling, provided valuable insights into current developments, legal requirements and practical solutions. Topics such as the Circular Economy Act, the Commercial Waste Ordinance, efficient collection systems and correct waste declarations showed how resource efficiency can be increased, costs reduced and legal certainty enhanced. Particular focus was placed on the question of how recycling and waste management can be used as genuine drivers of added value – especially in times of rising raw material prices and volatile supply chains.
During the subsequent tour of the facility, participants gained insights into the processes at our glass recycling plant in Marienfeld. It became clear how modern technologies and efficient processes contribute to turning waste glass back into valuable raw materials.
Our goal:
The circular economy is a key component of sustainable business practices. It combines innovation with responsibility and pursues the goal of keeping raw materials in circulation instead of wasting them.
Together with pro Wirtschaft GT, we wanted to show that sustainable action is not a rigid concept, but a continuous process – and that those who start today can make a difference tomorrow.
