Container glass: Recycling glass bottles for the circular economy

The Reiling Group is one of Europe’s leading providers in the field of glass recycling and is committed to efficient, sustainable recycling cycles. Glass packaging plays a central role in this: it is environmentally friendly, economical and future-proof.

Glass is 100% recyclable and can be reused as often as required without any loss of quality. Container glass in particular, such as bottles and other glass packaging, can be returned to the economic cycle indefinitely. The use of recycled cullet in glass production saves energy and reduces CO₂ emissions, whilst at the same time conserving natural primary raw materials such as sand, soda and lime. Furthermore, recycling helps to save landfill space. At 15 sites across Germany and Europe, the Reiling Group efficiently processes both flat and container glass and returns it as a high-quality raw material to glass production. Sort-clean collection is crucial for optimal recycling: foreign materials such as ceramics, porcelain, stones or other non-glass materials do not belong in the waste glass collection. Separation by glass colour is also essential to ensure the quality of the recycled material.
