Glass recycling: Photovoltaics

Unmixed separation of all components of photovoltaic modules requires
breaking new ground. Reiling rises to this challenge.

During the past years, countless photovoltaic plants have been built all over Europe. Normally, photovoltaic modules for clean energy production feature a service life of more than two decades. We as a responsible recycling company consider it our obligation to ensure the sustainability of photovoltaic modules even beyond this period of time.

Collection
The environmentally friendly collection of decommissioned photovoltaic modules and the recirculation of the valuable materials contained therein presents a future challenge. We dedicate ourselves to this task with high commitment and a wealth of experience.

We accept all types of silicon-based photovoltaic modules.

Processing
Unmixed separation of all components of a photovoltaic module requires breaking new ground. We rise to the challenge of separating the different, tightly connected materials in the modules so efficiently that the sorted raw materials can be reused for the production of new, high-quality products.

We are certified as an initial processing plant according to the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) at several locations in Germany. Through cooperation with reliable partners we ensure the best possible results in the recycling process

End products  Glass is the main component of photovoltaic modules and represents the largest proportion of   recovered raw materials. However, we also offer optimal recycling of other materials such as aluminium.

Through continuous further development of the recycling processes and the use of state-of-the-art sorting technologies we are able to meet the high requirements imposed on the recovered secondary materials in terms of purity, colour, and all other quality characteristics.

We ensure this by:

  • special professional expertise of our employees
  • high technical  standard of our processing plants
  • close cooperation with the processing industry

In order to continuously improve the recycling of photovoltaic modules also in the future, Reiling is actively engaged in research projects aiming at improving the treatment processes.
